5 things that have genuinely helped me as a journalist 🗞
When people ask me about breaking into journalism, I often give a disclaimer that my career definitely hasn’t followed one straight path. 🤔🫣
I studied a four-year degree (yep, no pivot from another degree, master’s or NCTJ!) and have now worked across the industry for over a decade, from print and digital to TV, radio and audience. 👩🏽💻📺🎙
I’m so glad I didn’t shy away from trying different things or taking risks. It’s meant I’ve met so many talented people and built skills that allow me to work across all kinds of roles. 🌱
I’ve both mentored and been mentored, but as work gets busier, I’m not always great at keeping up with requests for advice. 🫱🏿🫲🏽
