Aaliyah Harris is a multiplatform journalist based in London. She works as an Audience Editor for The Independent leading on editorial coverage for Indy100.
Prior to this she worked as an Assistant Producer for Sky News across the newsroom with digital, TV output, radio and podcast teams.
Aaliyah has gained diverse experience in several roles, including working as an Assistant Audience Editor at The I Paper, where she supported week and weekend editions. She's also been responsible for fact-checking, subbing articles and managing the FT Weekend Magazine's Twitter account and has worked with CNN International, contributing to features, video, and TV content. Additionally, Aaliyah has produced advocacy and campaigning journalism for The Canary, creating content across a wide range of topics and verticals.
In 2020, she graduated from a four-year Journalism with Study Abroad degree at City, University of London and spent a year at Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson University).
Aaliyah has always wanted a career in an original field that would allow her to connect with different kinds of people, learn a range of skills and create impacting work.
Her journalism involves reporting on news and current affairs, fashion & lifestyle, entertainment, arts & culture. Her specialisms include audience strategy, newsletter and video production alongside feature writing where she enjoys putting underreported stories to the forefront that highlight underrepresented communities.
She makes 'AH TALKS' radio podcasts, produces TV news packages, YouTube travel vlogs and you'll often find her on social media creating content for Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
As a student she produced two issues of her own magazine 'YC', (Youth Culture) which can be viewed on the website tab.
