At Sky News, I worked on the radio team with production to write scripts, edit and voice audio.


Below are some examples of radio scripts written for the IRN service provided by Sky News and voiced bulletins for on the hour news roundups that are sent out to commercial radio stations.

Ireland is set to ban XL bully dogs following a fatal attack on a woman.


It'll be illegal to own one from the 1st of February next year - while importing, breeding or reselling them will be banned from October the 1st.


The UK and Northern Ireland have similar measures.

 

Former SNP equalities officer Cameron Downing has been jailed for six years for a string of sexual and physical assaults.


The 24-year-old attacked seven people in separate incidences Scotland over a five-year spell up to 2021.


Downing was found guilty of 10 charges including domestic abuse.

 

The UK's financial watchdog is calling on banks and firms to improve how they treat political figures following a review into so-called debanking.


The Financial Conduct Authority found most businesses could deal with MPs better, so they're not subject to excessive checks or bans.


The issue made headlines when Nigel Farage claimed he'd had his account closed because he was a politician.

 

Katie Price claims she was evicted from her home because of mess caused by fly-tippers.


The reality TV star says she was handed a notice after failing to pay an 800-thousand pound bill for the clear-up at her mansion in West Sussex.


She says she's now moved out and can't wait to live in her new property.

 

Solomon the pet tortoise has been rescued after trespassing on rail tracks


An escaped tortoise caused a series of train delays between Ascot in Berkshire and Bagshot in Surrey on Friday.


The trespasser was moving 'at pace' towards Bagshot but engineers caught Solomon and managed to put it on the next passing train, with arrangements to drop it off at a vet in Staines.

British jet engine maker Rolls Royce says it'll let airlines know if a possible problem with a fuel nozzle poses a wider risk. 


Cathay Pacific airlines said several flights have been cancelled while checks take place. 


British Airways and Virgin Atlantic could also be affected.

Britain's biggest auction to date has secured 131 clean energy projects. 


They include on and offshore wind farms, solar and tidal projects that officials say could power 11 million UK homes.

Manchester's been named the UK's top first-time buyer hotspot outside London. 


Data from Halifax shows those purchasing their first property accounted for 75 percent of sales last year - up from just under two-thirds in 2020. 


Slough in Berkshire came second, while Reading and Wolverhampton also featured in the top ten.

Ryanair and Wizz Air set new records for the number of passengers they carried last month.  


Ryanair flew 20-point-5 million people - up 8 percent on August last year while Wizz Air flew 6.2 million, a one percent increase year-on-year.

An ex-band member of the Jackson 5 has paid tribute to Tito Jackson.  


Former drummer Jonathan Moffett wrote on X he was "stunned, devastated and speechless". 


Tito was the third eldest of nine siblings and died at the age of 70.

Richard Gadd won three Emmy Awards in Los Angeles last night. 


The Scottish star was recognised for his role in writing, producing and starring in the Netflix hit series Baby Reindeer.  


It's understood to be inspired by the 35-year old's real life experiences.  


Speaking at The Television Academy awards ceremony he said it's the "stuff of dreams". 


His co-star Jessica Gunning won the award for best supporting actress in a limited series.

Shakira has walked off stage after a fan appeared to film up her skirt.  


The 47-year-old singer was dancing to her new single Soltera in Miami.  


A video circulating on social media shows her signalling twice to an audience member to stop - before she makes her exit.

Netflix has announced its hit series Emily in Paris will return for a fifth season. 


The streaming platform's shared a photo of lead actress Lily Collins sipping an espresso in Rome.  


The previous finale ended on a romantic cliff hanger in the Italian capital.
