These are my top four picks of the week for giving you hair a hydration boost, a glossy look and soft, touch feel. I decided to try some ‘leave in products’ with two hair oils, a mask and a natural conditioning treatment. All of these products can be purchased at Paks.

1. Argan Oil – Hydrating Hair Mask – 3/5
This intensive conditioning treatment is primarily for Moroccan hair but I wanted to try it out as I have mixed Indian/Afro hair. The pro is that after washing the hair mask out, you can really feel and see the difference texture. My hair is curly and prone to frizz but after this my curls feel much more defined and my hair is silkier. The only negative is that like a lot of hair masks, the product becomes hard and a bit clumpy when dry after a long time (I like to leave it in overnight for the best result) which means I can’t wear the mask outside throughout the day.
2. Sunny Isle – Jamaican Black Castor Oil – 5/5
This oil has been a beloved fav for at least two years now (spotted in one of my magazines) and a 24m bottle will last at least 6 months if not the entire year! I usually buy it in Extra dark, as the darker the oil the better. The oil itself is very thick and only a small pea size amount is needed. I use this product mainly on my roots and face. First warming up the product in my hands, which makes the application easier. This oil helps hair to grow faster and thicker alongside improving smoothness. I use this product on my skin because I literally glow afterwards and it’s amazing when restoring dry skin. Lastly as it helps with hair growth so I occasionally use the product on my eyelashes and brows.
3. Organics By Africa’s BEST – Leave-In Liquid Hair Mayonnaise – 4/5
This treatment is full of natural products and the best thing about this is the cinnamon scent. The product is much thinner than any ‘leave in’ conditioner that I have used and has a runny texture. I apply it after washing my hair and use the product to style. The pro is that a small amount goes a long way and when the hair has dried the product cannot be felt which makes it light weight, great for when you want a natural look. The negative is that I feel the product dries very quickly when applying.
4. Argan Oil – Hair Treatment with Moroccan argan oil extract – 2/5
For me the Argan Oil treatment is not something I would continue to buy. The pro is the size of the bottle which is suited for travel and only 4-5 pumps from the bottle is really needed so it lasts for a long time. For my type of hair this product does nothing for my curls or styling and it leaves my hair feeling quite sticky. I wouldn’t use it as my ‘go to’ wear out product. However, I would use it as a sleep-in hair hydration treatment and I think that on a different hair type this product works a lot better.
